Christmas 2018

Christina Ottaviano

Hello everyone,

The Christmas season is upon us, and I am continually thankful for your consistent business and flexibility, with times and with bringing Anthony.

Weather:

Some pets love the cold weather, and others absolutely hate it! I've dropped many of our daily walks to just 15 minutes ($15), in order to accommodate the weather conditions and colder temperatures.  (The 10% discount when scheduling 5 days does not apply at this rate.) If this is something you're interested in, just mention it when scheduling. For pet sitting, I still visit no matter what the weather, but I may move visit times to accommodate a pending snowstorm, for example. For dog walking, I typically close down for the day, if the local schools close. Most customers leave late/get home early and don't need walks those days, anyway. I do not charge for cancellations, and prepayments will be credited to the following week.

Donations

I'm collecting gently used pet supplies for donation to Dog Town in Colmar. This may include food (I do think bags of dry food or treats can be open) and treats; gently used loads, collars, harnesses; toys, bedding, clothing, and shampoos or other products for bathing. They take in the most desperate of dogs from Philadelphia's most crowded shelter, so if you would like to leave items out for me when I come to visit, I will pick them up and take them over around Christmas time. They also house adoptable cats, and can always use donations for them, as well.

Holidays

Upcoming; Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and Easter day.

Sick days

I almost never cancel visits, unless I'm completely incapacitated by illness and don't feel like I can complete the job effectively. On weekends, if I'm that sick, Tony fills in for me. Unfortunately during the week, it means I have to cancel visits, so I try really hard not to, but Dog Town has doggy daycare if your dog has been evaluated and is UTD on shots. For pet sitting, I do have backup pet sitters that I can ask, (Marissa or Christina) if there's an emergency preventing me from completing a visit.

Dog training

I am often asked about who is the best in the area, and I always recommend Colleen, who is an all positive reinforcement dog (people!) trainer. Just so you all have her information in one spot, here it is:

Dogs documentary: as a dog lover, I would be remiss not to mention the new series of episodes available on Netflix, each featuring dogs in a different way. Be sure to bring tissues, and your dogs, if you decide to watch.
